Project Overview

From the outset, this landscape design and construction project at Entrance Island, Bokarina was designed to complement one of the property’s most defining architectural features; its striking front façade and grand entry sequence. Working closely with a client heavily involved in the architectural design process, the landscape was carefully considered to enhance the home’s presence while maintaining restraint, balance, and cohesion throughout the property.

Drawing inspiration from Palm Springs-style landscaping, the design focused on creating a refined outdoor environment that softened the home’s strong architectural lines and extensive hardscape elements without detracting from the architecture itself.

Scope of Works

The project included large-scale landscape installation works featuring advanced tree planting, sculptural Palm Springs-style planting, custom garden beds, white sand beach creation along the canal frontage, feature landscape lighting, extensive automated irrigation systems, and detailed soft landscaping throughout the property.

Design Challenges

A key challenge throughout the project was achieving the right balance between the home’s bold architectural form and the surrounding landscape. With extensive use of hard materials including walls, tiling, and large paved areas, the planting design required a restrained and carefully considered approach to avoid competing visually with the architecture.

This balance was achieved through the integration of layered Palm Springs-inspired planting, architectural feature trees, and sculptural greenery designed to soften the built environment while maintaining the clean lines and visual strength of the home’s contemporary design. Particular attention was given to plant selection, spacing, texture, and form to ensure the landscaping enhanced the architecture from every viewpoint across the property.

The canal frontage also required a thoughtful approach, with the introduction of a custom white sand beach designed to create a softer connection to the waterfront setting while reinforcing the project’s relaxed Palm Springs-inspired aesthetic.

Materials & Planting Palette

A refined combination of architectural feature trees, sculptural Palm Springs-style planting, white sand detailing, and clean material selections was used throughout the project to reinforce the home’s contemporary coastal character.

The completed project delivers a highly refined and cohesive outdoor environment where architecture, landscaping, and lifestyle integrate seamlessly. Through a carefully balanced approach to planting design, feature tree selection, and landscape installation, the result is a sophisticated example of premium landscape design on the Sunshine Coast that enhances both the visual presence and long-term enjoyment of the property.
