Project Overview

This canal-front Pool and landscape construction project in Mooloolaba involved the complete transformation of an outdated outdoor area into a refined, resort-style waterfront retreat designed for entertaining, relaxation, and year-round outdoor living on the Sunshine Coast. The design was carefully developed to complement the home’s contemporary coastal architecture while maximising functionality, flow, and connection to the riverfront setting.

Scope of Works

The extensive scope of works included a full pool renovation with a raised spa and glass feature window, custom retaining walls, architectural stone cladding, tiled entertaining areas, a bespoke outdoor kitchen and BBQ pavilion, curved steel roof structure, sunken hardwood decking, frameless glass pool fencing, lighting, irrigation, drainage, and complete landscape construction throughout the property.

Construction Challenges

Situated within an exposed coastal environment, the project required careful consideration around material selection, construction methods, and long-term durability. Stone cladding, powder-coated steel, stainless steel fixings, large-format tiling, and hardwood decking were selected to withstand the harsh marine conditions while maintaining the project’s refined coastal aesthetic.

The site itself presented significant construction challenges, with seven different levels and inconsistent transitions throughout the backyard and veranda areas. With no machine access available, all demolition works including the removal of existing walls, concrete slabs, decking, and materials were completed manually through the property, adding considerable logistical complexity to the build.

Structural modifications were also required to the existing pool to accommodate the new raised spa, requiring careful planning and sequencing to maintain the pool’s structural integrity and waterproofing throughout construction.

Materials & Finishes

A carefully curated palette of natural stone cladding, large-format tiles, hardwood decking, architectural steelwork, and coastal planting was used throughout the project to create a cohesive resort-inspired aesthetic. The repetition of materials across the various outdoor zones helped create visual continuity while reinforcing the home’s contemporary coastal character.

Outcome

The completed landscape now functions as a seamless extension of the home, featuring multiple interconnected outdoor living zones including expansive entertaining areas, a custom outdoor kitchen, riverfront sunken decking, and resort-style pool surrounds. Delivered entirely by our in-house team, the project reflects a highly detailed and integrated approach to luxury outdoor construction on the Sunshine Coast while enhancing both the lifestyle functionality and long-term value of the property.
